This is the 1/4 Oz American Eagle Type 2 gold coin, issued by the United States Mint. Since 2021, the Gold Eagle coin features an updated design – its first update in thirty-five years. The Type 2 American Eagle coin depicts a modified design of the eagle and namesake of this coin.

The American Eagle Type 2 gold coin differs in its design from the original version on the reverse as it now features a very detailed depiction of the eagle head as imagined by designer Jennie Norris. The obverse of this gold coin, however, remains unchanged and features the Augustus Saint-Gaudens illustration of “Walking Liberty”, who is known as the goddess of freedom.
