The silver Canadian Maple Leaf 2014 is considered one of the finest investment coins in the world and has remained an extremely popular silver coin series since its introduction in 1988. The Maple Leaf is also known as the first investment coin on the market to be minted with a silver content of 999/1000. Its producer, the Royal Canadian Mint has also released this coin in an almost identical design but minted into pure gold. In addition, Maple Leaf coins are also available in palladium and platinum editions. The silver version is released every year and minted in the weight of one troy ounce (31.1 grams).
Canada Maple Leaf 2014 design
The 2014 Canadian Maple Leaf has been updated and is visibly different from the previous years. Although the design remains very recognizable, a number of significant changes have been made. What immediately stands out are the ripples that have been lasered onto both the front and back of the silver coin. In addition to these change, Royal Canadian Mint has applied a security emblem in the form of a small maple leaf to the front of the coin. This emblem has been used on the gold Maple Leaf editions for several years now, but has now been applied for the first time on the silver 2014 coin. This means that the coin has been protected against forgery at one the highest levels possible.
